Microsoft 365 is quickly establishing itself as the cloud software of choice for today’s businesses. Its vast array of tools have supported this, and since remote work looks like it’s here to stay, Microsoft Teams is the jewel in Microsoft 365’s crown. Read on to learn the main benefits of Microsoft Teams and why if it isn’t featuring in your workflow already, it probably should be.
Improved communication

As an instant messaging platform, Microsoft Teams allows fast, efficient communication between team members. Say goodbye to cumbersome email threads and chat via direct messages with as many people as you like. You can also video call team members with just a few clicks, thus making it feel like any team member is sitting right next to you.
All you need is an internet connection
You don’t need to worry about an email server or what OS a device is on. The communication is cloud based so all you need is an internet connection. Plus, Microsoft Teams can be accessed on any device; desktop, phone, or tablet.
Easy integration

Many of the Microsoft 365 applications you know and love will work in beautiful synchronicity with Microsoft Teams. Any meetings you schedule in Outlook sync with the Teams calendar. And if your meeting is a Teams call, you can give your Outlook meeting entries their own link into your Microsoft Teams call. Office apps like Word, Excel, and PowerPoint can all be collaborated on from within the Microsoft Teams Window. The document is stored in SharePoint so it’ll save in real time as you work. These benefits are just the tip of the iceberg as Microsoft Teams integrates with Skype for Business, Planner, Yammer, and many more applications.
It provides a great space to form stronger bonds and promote teamwork
Setting up dedicated hang-out channels can be the perfect place for building company culture when your office is remote. Again, email threads are hardly the best option. Plus, Microsoft Teams offers an array of emojis and GIFs for adding a little flavour to your communication. Great fun, regardless of whether your team’s remote.
It’s a powerful VoIP telephone solution
Combine it with Microsoft Business Voice and you can use Microsoft Teams to set up and schedule regular calls, and can invite additional attendees while a call is in session. Microsoft Teams also has added functionality including CRM integration and easy, one click call transfer. Also, using Microsoft Teams for calls will typically work out cheaper than a landline, so that may be a cost to reconsider.
The benefits of Microsoft Teams don’t stop with the above examples. As you use it, you’ll find more and more functionalities that are beneficial to your style of working. Plus, with Microsoft’s ever-updating add-in library, Microsoft Teams’ functionality will continue to grow. Whether it’s creating polls in Polly or giving your teammates Kudos with Disco, Microsoft Teams has more benefits than we could possibly cover in this one post!
